Who we are?

We are not perfect but God is.  We are not flawless but God is.  Northlakes is a community of believers who are not perfect or flawless but want to do the best we can to Love God and Love People.  We desire to find other imperfect people who are interested in what life might look like if we allowed God to perfect us!

We are all on a Quest...a Journey!  We are moving forward, growing, and looking for the best life we can live.  We ask the question, what would that Quest look like if we invited God to come alongside us, to guide us?

What we believe?

In the book of Matthew, Jesus was asked about what was important when trying to please God.  He answered, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbour as yourself.'" (Matthew 22:38-39, NIV)

We believe that Jesus' words are accurate, true and relevant.  All of the other parts of life hang on these two essential truths.

And when it comes to "what we believe," we have a very simple answer: the Bible.

Quite simply, we rely on the information contained within this extraordinary book for everything we do in life.  And so, as we look at Northlakes Church we count on the Bible for our information about worship, prayer, study, fellowship and...well just about everything.  We have yet to experience anything in life in which the Bible does not give us instruction and guidance.

True, many disagree on the interpretation of some of the Bible's teachings, but we believe it is still good practice to use the Bible alone as our written guide.  So our basic beliefs  can easily be checked by what the Bible says, such as:

There is only one God.  He created everything in the Universe, including human beings who are created in His image.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  He came to earth as a real human, yet He is the divine revelation of God.  He lived a sinless life, died for our sins, was dead for three days and was then raised from the dead and is now seated at God's right hand.

The Bible is God's message to us.  Written down by human beings, it was inspired by God as a guide and standard for us.

Our sin separates us from God, but the death of Jesus Christ pays the price that brings us back into a right relationship with God again.

To accept this marvelous gift, we need only recognise Jesus as Saviour and Lord, turn from the wrong way of living and be baptised for the remission of our sins.

Certainly we have many other beliefs and convictions and we welcome you to come and explore the Bible with us as we strive to live the kind of lives that Jesus calls us to live.

Can it really be that simple?  We believe it is!  That's why we are all about just

Loving God and Loving People.
